Ford Investing $773 Million in New Equipment and Production Capacity Expansion
DEARBORN, MI – Ford is investing more than $773 million in new equipment and production capacity expansions across six manufacturing facilities in Michigan.

DEARBORN, MI – Ford is investing more than $773 million in new equipment and production capacity expansions across six manufacturing facilities in Michigan.
These investments include $305 million in its Dearborn stamping plant for plant modernization and other improvements; $161 million in the Flat Rock Assembly for machinery and equipment to build the new Ford Fusion and so it can act as an additional production facility; $86 million in the Sterling Axle plant, for future model changes and equipment and machinery investment; $87.7 million for machinery and equipment to meet demand for the new for 6F35 (used in the Escape and Fusion) and 6F50 transmissions (used in the Ford Edge, Taurus, and Flex, and the Lincoln MKX and MKS); and the $74.7 million for machinery and equipment in the Livonia Transmission plant for transmission expansion and test equipment.
Beyond those investments, over the next six months Ford also plans to bring a new stamping press on line at the Michigan Assembly plant; install equipment for four new stamping presses at Dearborn Stamping Plant; and finish expansion work at Flat Rock Assembly Plant to build the new Fusion.
