Ford Escape SUVs Recalled for Power Windows
The safety compliance recall covers nearly 18,000 2017 model-year vehicles in the U.S.

Ford Motor Co. is issuing a safety compliance recall for 17,985 2017 model-year Ford Escape SUVs in the U.S. so dealers can update the power window software.
The power windows in these vehicles might close too forcefully — an injury-risk problem that a software update can fix, according to the automaker.
“In the affected vehicles, the power window system configuration may exceed the regulatory requirement for remote actuation closing force, increasing the risk of injury,” Ford explained in a released statement. The automaker added that it isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.
The recall covers 2017 Ford Escape vehicles built at Louisville Assembly Plant from Oct. 5, 2015, to May 12, 2016. In addition to the 17,985 vehicles recalled in the U.S., Ford is recalling 5,157 in Canada for the same problem.
There will be no charge for the software remedy.
