Ford Boosts Production on Escape & Focus

DEARBORN, MI - Ford Motor Company announced it will increase North American production to ensure enough Ford Escape and Focus models - the two most popular Ford vehicles under the "Cash for Clunkers" program - are available.
Ford's planned third quarter production is now 18 percent above third quarter 2008 production levels, with 10,000 units added for a total 495,000 units produced in the third quarter. Ford also announced plans to produce 570,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter, 33 percent higher than year-ago levels and 15 percent above the third quarter production plan. The increase represents higher production across a range of cars, crossovers, and trucks.
In August and September, the automaker will build approximately 3,500 additional Escapes.
Ford has worked with the UAW and suppliers to meet the vehicle demand by requesting overtime and extra shifts to ensure an "uninterrupted flow of product."
