ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL - FleetMatics, a leading global provider of fleet management solutions for commercial fleet vehicles, announces that its newly enhanced FleetMatics Mobile App has received enthusiastic acceptance in the fleet management marketplace. The Mobile App is a powerful mobile delivery platform that offers a portable, full-featured version of the FleetMatics 8.0 GPS Vehicle Tracking System. The easy-to-use mobile application provides fleet owners and managers with real-time access to vehicle locations, alerts, reports and dashboards anytime and anywhere, using a native Android application.

FleetMatics CEO Jim Travers notes, “Our new Mobile App allows users to run their fleets smoothly and efficiently right from their smartphones, whether they are in the office or out in the field. Like our Web-based application, it provides seamless, full-featured integration with Google Maps API and Google Street Views, so drivers can be directed to exact customer or delivery locations quickly and easily. This not only saves time and improves productivity and customer service, but also helps to reduce fuel costs – which is so critical these days.”

CTO Peter Mitchell adds: “Designing and launching the FleetMatics Mobile App presented some unique challenges, especially in the areas of usability, security and reliability. User response has been extremely positive, with early adopters citing the volume of useful information available, as well as the application’s ease of use. In fact, already over 1,000 companies and 2,000 users have downloaded the Android Mobile App, representing 35,000 vehicles.”

Using the newly enhanced FleetMatics Mobile App, dispatchers can quickly respond to customer calls and route technicians to urgent jobs using Live Fleet. Fleet owners can view live Dashboard Reports and Route Replay, investigate incidents in the field, and stay in touch with fleet performance metrics from any location using an Android-enabled smartphone.

To ensure robust support in the U.S. market for the new FleetMatics 8.0 Tracking System and Mobile App, the company completed implementation late last year of a new hosted data center, with ViaWest in Denver, Colorado, providing the servers. The multimillion dollar infrastructure investment augments the company’s other hosting site, located in Dublin, Ireland.
