BROOKLINE, MA — The Third Annual AltWheels conference, an alternative transportation festival, will hold a Fleet Day Sept. 19 at the Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation in Brookline. The fleet event is co-hosted by the New England chapter of the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA). The Fleet Day workshop is open to corporate, state, and municipal fleet managers and will “explore costs, benefits, incentives, and practical approaches to reducing transportation costs” and examine the role of alternative transportation vehicles in fleets, according to the event organizers. The event’s morning sessions begin at 8 a.m. with registration and continental breakfast. Alison Sander, AltWheels founder, and Fred Davies, NAFA’s New England chapter chair and director of fleet, facilities, and communications for the town of Framingham, Mass., will offer a welcoming address. Workshops include presentations and panel discussions. Following lunch, Fleet Day attendees may participate in vehicle ride and drives. The Fleet Day workshop presentations include “Perspective on Transportation and Energy Trends” and “Global Pressures: Should Sustainability be Part of the Transportation Paradigm?” Panel dis-cussions include “Fleet Options: What Vehicles are Currently Available and What Is in the Works,” “Real-World Alternative Fleet Experiences from the Public and Private Sector,” and “Federal and State Mandates and Incentives: What Should Fleet Managers Be Doing — What will They Be Required to Do.” Fleet Day admission is free for pre-registered participants.
