FCA US is investing $1 billion in two assembly plants in Ohio and Illinois to support planned growth of its Jeep brand, the company announced.
FCA is shifting production of the Jeep Cherokee to its Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois from current production in Toledo, Ohio. The plant will receive $350 million, which will create 300 new jobs. FCA will cease production at the plant of the Dodge Dart in September. The plant will cease production of the Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot in December.
