EVERGREEN, AL - Evergreen Transportation Inc., which announced its Chapter 11 Bankruptcy filing Aug. 4, confirmed Aug. 25 that it is discontinuing its van fleet, based in Cantonment, Fla.
Demand for the vans, which primarily shipped non-refrigerated goods such as drinks and paper, have dwindled as customers struggle with their own budget issues, according to a company spokesperson.
"We had a group that did an analysis of the profitability of all our fleets, and it was apparent that the van fleet was not profitable," said the company official, noting the company's reluctance.
Evergreen continues four other fleets offering, among others, flatbed and bulk hauling services.
