BMW will reduce the fuel economy estimates for four 2014 Mini Cooper entry luxury cars following an audit by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The EPA ordered the move after the audit at the EPA's Ann Arbor, Mich., laboratory revealed fuel economy estimates that didn't match those submitted by BMW for the window sticker, the EPA has announced.
Four three-door Mini Cooper hatchbacks will be revised, including the Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S with manual and semi-automatic transmission. The Mini Cooper manual will move to 29/40/33 mph city/highway/combined from 30/42/34 mpg. The Mini Cooper semi-automatic will move to 28/39/32 mpg from 29/40/33 mpg.
The Mini Cooper S manual will move to 28/24/34 mpg from 25/38/29 mpg. The Mini Cooper S semi-automatic will move to 26/35/30 mpg from 27/38/31 mpg.
