During her career with LeasePlan, Edwards served in a variety of other critical positions at the FMC that allowed her to gain knowledge in different, key aspects of the fleet management business. One of her positions was director of operations, vehicle acquisition, where she managed the factory ordering, upfitting, stock and manufacturer receivable groups at LeasePlan. She also managed the relationship between LeasePlan and the auto manufacturers, upfit suppliers, and national dealership franchises. Prior to that role, she was a director in client services where she oversaw the account managers of all strategic accounts and served as a key contact for clients.
In 2007, Edwards founded Women in Fleet Management (WIFM). WIFM provides networking, mentoring and other opportunities to women and men in the fleet industry. WIFM is now comprised of more than 2,500 fleet professionals via its associated AFLA membership, LinkedIn discussion groups, and industry receptions. WIFM offers a number of programs, including periodic webinars focused on personal and professional development topics, a dedicated speaker session held in conjunction with the AFLA Annual Corporate Conference and a year-round mentorship program.
