LOS ANGELES --- Today, only about 500 gas stations nationwide sell E85 fuel, according to the Detroit Free Press. But the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition expects that number to reach about 2,500 by the end of this year. A growing number of gasoline retailers are taking advantage of new tax credits for retro-fitting pumps and tanks. Millions of vehicles on the road can run on E85, but their owners fill up with regular gasoline instead. That could change, though, with automakers and fuel retailers bolstering their marketing of the alternative fuel. E85 consists of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline.
