WASHINGTON, D.C. --- For the second week in a row, the U.S. average retail diesel price increased. The price strengthened 3.7 cents to another all-time high of $4.764 per gallon, according to the Energy Department's weekly report released July 16.

The department's Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that diesel prices rose to new record highs in all five regions. The average price on the East Coast increased 3.3 cents to $4.822 per gallon. The price in the Midwest remained the lowest of any region at $4.698 per gallon, an increase of 4.4 cents.

The average diesel price in the Gulf Coast rose 4 cents to $4.737 per gallon. The Rocky Mountains saw the largest price increase of any region, with the price jumping 4.6 cents to $4.718 per gallon. On the West Coast, the average diesel price moved 2.3 cents higher to $4.909 per gallon. In California, the average price also increased, climbing 2.5 cents to $5.026 per gallon.
