DETROIT – The recent Detroit Auto Show featured several new models. Here’s a rundown.

Ford Verve: Designed and engineered by Ford’s talented team in Europe, the concept sedan’s interior is skyblue. The hatchback goes on sale in Europe this year and could eventually make it to the U.S.

2009 Dodge Ram: The new model has Dodge’s first full-size crew cab and between 30 and 40 storage cubbies. In the rear, coil springs promise a refined ride without sacrificing capability, while the optional RamBox storage compartments turn wasted space in the fenders into useful real estate.

Lincoln MKT: The MKT concept was developed to set the tone for a future model line that will return Lincoln to the ranks of major luxury brands. The swoopy all-wheel drive concept embodies Lincoln’s new family look, from its split-wing grille to beveled shoulder lines and full-width taillights.

BMW 1-series: BMW’s new compact coupe starts at $28,600. The base model comes with BMW’s 230-horsepower 3.0L straight-six engine, which also powers the larger and heavier BMW 325i. The convertible features a power sotftop that opens or closes in 22 seconds and works at speeds up to about 25 m.p.h.

Saab 9-4X: Saab’s crossover SUV rides on a new basic structure GM developed to give its luxury brands competitors for models like the BMW X3 and Acura RDX. Styling includes blacked-out pillars, which make the roof appear to be suspended over a glass cockpit, and a front view inspired by the nose and air intakes of the jet fighters Saab has built.

Fisker Karma: The sporty Karma will go on sale in 2009, cover 50 miles solely under electric power, recharge its batteries overnight, use a small engine to recharge on long drives, and have a top speed “beyond 125 m.p.h..” The Karma is set at $80,000.
