Much success in remarketing and the industry overall stems from being able to relate to and understand the demands put on the people you do business with.

Consignors and auctions serve distinct purposes and roles in a long chain of transactions, and while it all flows and works, there’s always room for the two sectors to connect with more clarity and efficiency.

A workshop — Driving Client Success: Get Out of My Car...Get Into My Head! — at the Conference of Automotive Remarketing aims to bring the remarketing industry together in new ways. Hosted by AutoIMS, the interactive session will enable participants to gain new perspectives from taking on the hearts and minds of each other’s work roles.

“When we walk a mile wearing not just the others’ shoes, but their emotions, we have the opportunity to take our working relationships to new levels,” said Joe Miller, the vice president of client success for AutoIMS and moderator of the workshop. “Adapted from proven psychological techniques designed to increase empathy and mutual understanding, this workshop will challenge participants to ‘trade places’ with their remarketing industry counterparts. Auction personnel will adopt consignors’ perspectives and vice versa.”

Participants will unpack everyday challenges and opportunities and should expect eye-opening dialogue, Miller said. “Be prepared to challenge your way of thinking. Come open to the idea that more success is possible when we make the effort to expand our perspective.”

This year's workshop builds on the success of one Miller hosted last year at CAR 2022, which engaged participants in a "cereal box" hands-on, creative workshop focused on the age-old floor pricing process. Groups competed with each other to become the winning team that came up with the best floor pricing model designed like a colorful cereal box.

The workshop will be held Wednesday, March 29 from 2 pm to 3 pm in the conference center of Caesars Palace Las Vegas.
