Total fleet sales for the month — which is comprised of commercial, rental, and government sales — came in at 178,252, which represented a 36% drop from the same time last year.

Commercial fleet sales through February 2021 were down 13.9% compared to same time last year, though it had to compete with the strongest month of 2020, which was the last month before COVID-19 was declared a pandemic in the U.S.

The decline in commercial fleet sales saw its most significant drop in for the car segment, down 58.5%, year-over-year, though this segment has been declining following the continued interest from fleets toward more SUVs and trucks.

Meanwhile, while the truck and SUV segment also saw declines in February, they were not down as significantly as cars, only dropping 8.9%. Total commercial fleet sales in February were at 56,699 units.

Total fleet sales for the month — which is comprised of commercial, rental, and government sales — came in at 178,252, which represented a 36% drop from the same time last year. 

Government fleets also saw declines for each segment. There was a 53.1% decline in cars sold to government fleets in February, and a 36.7% decline in the truck and SUV segment. Combined, truck, SUV, and car vehicle sales for government fleets added to 14,104 units, which reflected a 38.6% decline.

Meanwhile. for rental fleets, there was a 43.4% overall decline in fleet sales during the month, according to sales data. Through January, rental fleet car sales fell by 29,7%, totaling 43,145 units. The truck and SUV segment sales decreased 49.9% at 64,304 units.
