AUBURN HILLS, MI – Chrysler Group LLC announced it plans to keep a number of factories operating without the usual two-week shutdown during the summer months, including its Jefferson North plant in Detroit, its Belvidere, Ill., plant, its Toluca, Mexico plant, and its Toledo Supplier Park in Ohio.
The automaker produces the Dodge Journey and Fiat 500 at its Toluca plant. It builds the Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot, and new 2013-MY Dart at the Belvidere, Ill., plant, and makes the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango at its Jefferson North plant.
Two other facilities will only close for one week rather than two, as usual, including its Sterling Heights, Mich., and Saltillo, Mexico, plant. The automaker produces the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger at the Sterling Heights plant. At the Saltillo plant, the company builds the Ram 1500, Ram 2500/3500, Ram Mega Cab, Ram 3500 Chassis Cab, and Ram 4500/5500.
The Brampton, Ont., Canada, Warren Truck, Mich., Windsor, Ont., Canada, and Toledo North, Ohio, will shut down for two weeks, as normal, according to the company.
