MILWAUKEE, Wis. --- Chevron Technology Ventures LLC and Modine Manufacturing Co. have entered a second phase of a project aimed at developing methods for generating hydrogen for use in automotive fuel cells. Modine told the Milwaukee Business Journal that the project is expected to produce hydrogen at a low cost for fuel cell applications. Modine has developed an advanced steam methane reformer that will be incorporated into a purified hydrogen unit Chevron is developing for a hydrogen refueling station. Chevron plans to install the purified hydrogen unit at a U.S. military base in Selfridge, Mich, to supply hydrogen for a fleet of light-duty fuel cell vehicles.
