Advanced levels of integration with all kinds of systems are helping to power continued success at fleet software system provider Chevin Fleet Solutions, according to the company.
Ron Katz, senior vice president of North American sales, explained that close links with internal human resources and financial systems and external ones with service providers such as lessors, insurers and fuel companies were becoming seen as ever more important.
"Modern corporate thinking recognizes that the fleet lies very close to the heart of corporate operations," Katz said. "If you want to maximize the efficiency of your fleet and minimize its cost, then fleet cannot operate as a standalone entity. It needs to be tightly integrated into the whole corporate structure."
Katz went on to underline the importance of system integration.
"This is why system integration has become so important to our clients and why we, as a company, are working with so many organizations looking to buy fleet software," he said. "If you can deliver high levels of integration with critical internal systems, then all kinds of new efficiencies and decision-making opportunities are created."
Katz said that a similar rational applies to data drawn from, and exchanged with external maintenance and service providers with tight integration enabling improved cost control and visibility.
"There are dozens of potential external data feeds from suppliers and information sources available to the average fleet and automated integration provides the ability to harmonize this information into near real-time intelligence," he said. "There are obvious benefits – for example, taking data from your fuel supplier or commercial fuel card will provide you with accurate information regarding fuel use, mileage and sustainability achievement – however system integration also opens the door to all kinds of new managerial strategies covering the fleet and more."
