Carolina Auto Auction, Inc., recently celebrated its 14-year anniversary with more than 2,000 vehicles and $100,000 in cash and prizes. Carolina welcomed several visiting dignitaries, including GMAC’s Jeff Miser, Glenn Cantrell and Becky Stull of Wachovia, Jake Sutton of BB&T, and Joe Caldarella of Triad Financial. Also on hand for the big event was one of the three original Starsky and Hutch Ford Torinos used in the TV sitcom and the recently released blockbuster movie. Shane Bryant a local dealer and associate of owner Henry Stanley provided the vehicle to dealers awaiting the sale-day start. Following Carolina’s traditional free breakfast and an Early Bird drawing for a 4-day/3-night vacation package to a destination of the winner’s choice, the auction led the sale with 32 utility-box trucks from Budget Truck Sales, liquidating the entire consignment by offering them both in the lane and on the Internet with OnLine Ringman. With the OnLine Ringman sale completed and all lanes open, Wachovia and Triad Financial opened with a hat and shirt giveaway. Dealers lined the Lease Bank lanes, bidding for the units offered for sale by Carolina’s clients. Wachovia sold 100 percent of its consigned vehicles, and Triad Financial pulling a close second with 96 percent sold. Carolina followed up the Lease Bank line with other lease companies such as RSA, U.S. Bank, Wheels Inc., and Carolina First, all reporting a successful day. Carolina’s dealer consignment lanes were full with more than 1,100 bidder badges issued and a total consignment sale of 57 percent. Carolina concluded the anniversary sale with prize giveaways, including a $54,000 cash prize, a pontoon boat, Alaskan cruise, stainless steel mega grill, hot tub, digital camera, video camera, Richard Petty NASCAR Driving Experience for two, and a Bose radio. The big winner of the day was ACC Auto Sales, the Carolina Cashpot winner.
