California to Announce Statewide Natural Gas Vehicle Deployment Targets
The California Natural Gas Vehicle Partnership (www.cngvp.org), an alliance of government air quality, transportation and energy agencies, together with vehicle and engine manufacturers, natural gas suppliers, vehicle fleet operators and environmentalists, announced statewide targets for the deployment of low-emission natural gas powered vehicles.
The California Natural Gas Vehicle Partnership (www.cngvp.org), an alliance of government air quality, transportation and energy agencies, together with vehicle and engine manufacturers, natural gas suppliers, vehicle fleet operators and environmentalists, announced statewide targets for the deployment of low-emission natural gas powered vehicles. The three- to 10-year targets, were announced at an Oct. 8 media briefing in conjunction with the World Natural Gas Vehicle 2002 conference in Washington, D.C., are expected to significantly decrease emissions in California. Making the announcement was Norma J. Glover, chairman of the California Natural Gas Vehicle Partnership and chairman of the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), which includes Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernadino Counties. With this announcement, California continues to lead the way in taking steps to reduce vehicle emissions and promote clean air. California’s plan will provide a model for other states and regional jurisdictions.
