General Motors is recalling about 97,000 2013-2016 model-year Cadillac ATS sedans in the U.S. because of a fire risk associated with the rear-window defroster control.

The recalled vehicles may have a faulty electrical connection in the coil antenna module that powers the defroster, according to the automaker.

Cadillac dealers will update the climate control software so that the defroster isn’t automatically turned on. The fire risk is linked to defroster overheating after prolonged cycling or continuous operation.

However, after the recall remedy, drivers will still have the option of turning on the defroster manually.

No injuries or crashes have been tied to the problem, but there have been four reports of fires, GM said. Sedans manufactured after Sept. 2 aren't part of the recall.

In addition to the recalled sedans in the U.S., GM is also calling back about 24,000 Cadillac ATS vehicles in Canada, Mexico and some other locations outside the U.S. for the same issue.
