BP Announces Launch of New Commercial Sales Web site
BP has announced the launch of a new commercial sales Web site aimed at large volume commercial diesel and gasoline fuels buyers. The new site, www.bpdirect.com, allows customers to review the latest product price quotes, quickly place orders, and check the status of existing orders from acceptance to scheduled delivery to invoice at their multiple locations. Customers can create and maintain their own unique company profiles. BP’s new Web site received its official unveiling on Sept. 25 at the OPIS Fleet Fueling 2001 Expo in Nashville, TN.
Prior to the unveiling, a six-month pilot run of www.bpdirect.com was held, in which two large volume fuel users purchased more than 40 million gallons of gasoline and distillates. Both companies reported high levels of satisfaction with the BP Web site.
According to Michael Slider, commodity manager at Yellow Freight System Inc., the pilot version of www.bpdirect.com allowed his company to “streamline the ordering process, saving time and money. As our business needs arise, no matter what time it is, we can instantaneously place orders, obtain documentation, or review historical purchasing data online.”
Melanie Adams-Miller, manager at Florida Power Corp., said that www.bpdirect.com saved time “not only on the order entry side, but has eliminated a separate spreadsheet that kept track of how much fuel is on order and what location it is intended for. We also appreciate being able to see when it was shipped.”
