The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is longer, taller, and has a wider wheelbase than the 3 Series Sedan or Sports Wagon.

BMW is introducing its all-new 3 Series Gran Turismo, which features luxury seating for four and more luggage capacity. The all-new Gran Turismo is nearly 8 inches longer than the 3 Series Sports Wagon. It features a 4.3-inch longer wheelbase and is 3.2 inches taller. BMW added an active rear spoiler to the vehicle, which is a first for the automaker, according to the company.

Inside, the Gran Turismo gives front and rear seat passengers a higher seating position, 2.3 inches higher than in the 3 Series sedans, extra headroom, and 2.8 inches of extra legroom compared to the 3 Series sedan and Sports Wagon.

In the trunk, the Gran Turismo offers extra 18.3 cu. ft. of space, which is 1 cu. ft. more than the BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon, according to BMW. In the back is a 40/20/40 split-folding seat with folding head restraints and tilt-adjustable backrests. There is also a two-piece shelf for storing items. The back of the vehicle features tie-down points, multi-function hooks, and an under-floor storage compartment. The cargo area is lit by LED strips.

Under the hood, the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo offers two engine choices, one for the 328 i model and another for the 335i. The 328i version comes with a 2.0L BMW TwinPower four-cylinder engine, which features direct injection, Valvetronic variable valve timing, and twin-scroll turbocharging. The 335i features an inline six-cylinder engine that can produce 300 hp and 300 lb. ft. of torque. The Gran Turismo comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a sports version of this transmission is available the Sport Line and M Sport versions of this vehicle.

BMW offers its ConnectedDrive system for this model.

The Gran Turismo offers a number of driving modes, including Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport, and Sport+, for different types of drivers and driving experiences.

For connectivity, this model features BMW ConnectedDrive, which provides a range of standard and optional driver assistance systems. The vehicle features a head-up display that’s projected onto the windshield, directly in the driver’s field of view. The speed limit is displayed as are navigation instructions and any driver alert messages.

Safety-wise, the Gran Turismo offers blind spot detection and lane departure warning with collision warning and automatic braking functionality. For safe lighting technology, the lights come with anti-dazzle high-beam assist and adaptive headlights. The high-beam assist automatically switches the high beam on and off, depending on the driving situation. The anti-dazzle feature is included with the optional Xenon headlights, which allows the high beams to stay on with oncoming traffic. Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality automatically regulates the vehicle’s speed in heavy traffic and can stop the vehicle if necessary. The vehicle also features an enhanced version of Automatic Collision Notification for the BMW ConnectedDrive system. The system automatically transmits the vehicle’s location, type, and crash data to a call center, which is designed to help emergency responders to respond to the accident. The driver can also trigger an emergency call to be connected to the BMW call center.
