BMW has added the 2019 X7 three-row flagship SUV to its lineup to better compete with other three-row luxury SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, Audi Q7, and Lincoln Navigator. The vehicle will go on sale in March.
BMW will offer its new utility in two trims, including the xDrive40i and xDrive50i with standard all-wheel drive, two gasoline engines, and an eight-speed transmission that uses the navigation system to pick the optimal gear. The xDrive40i is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine that makes 335 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque, while the xDrive50i's twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine makes 456 hp and 479 lb.-ft. of torque.
BMW has priced the models to retail for at least $73,900 for the xDrive40i and $92,600 for the xDrive50i.
The vehicle is packed with technology, including parking sensors, five-zone automatic climate control, heated front seat armrests, soft-close doors, heated and cooled cup holders, gesture control, and a head-up display. BMW will offer an Executive Package that adds a panoramic sunroof with embedded LED lights that mimic a starry sky.
Safety tech includes a forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and speed limit information. The xDrive50i adds the head-up display, as well as a surround-view camera system and Active Driving Assistant Professional — a feature that combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist that will help steer, accelerate, and brake at speeds up to 37 mph.
BMW provides full details of the 2019 X7 in a press release.
