BMW's 2019 X4 enters its second generation as a wider, longer luxury SUV offered in a standard and higher-performance "M" model with improved technology such as voice recognition and gesture controls, BMW has announced.
The 2019 X4 adds 3 inches in length and 2.1 inches on the wheelbase. BMW describes its four-door crossover as a "sports activity coupe."
The vehicle arrives as the X4 xDrive30i with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque paired with an eight-speed transmission.
The X4 M40i is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-six that makes 355 hp and 365 lb.-ft. mated to an eight-speed automatic.
The 2019 X4 adds the latest generation of iDrive paired with a 10.25-inch display.
Available driver-assisting features include Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go for driving in congestion. The car automatically brakes, shuts the engine off, then restarts the engine to drive. The optional Driving Assistance Package offers blind spot detection, land departure warning, Daytime Pedestrian Protection, and Frontal Collision Warning with City Collision Mitigation.
The vehicle arrives in showrooms this summer. The xDrive30i will retail for at least $50,450. The M40i starts at $60,450.
