ORLANDO, Fla. --- More than 300 people from 10 states and Brazil attended the Farm to Fuel Summit here. The summit's focus was on reducing U.S. dependence on foreign oil by tapping America's crops. New technologies are expected to simplify processes for making ethanol from crops other than corn. These technologies will also permit the use of hurricane debris as a fuel source. Dr. Gale Buchanan, U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary for Research, Education and Economics, told attendees that biofuel development from agriculture will impact the agriculture industry more than any other development over the past 150 years.
