COLUMBUS, OHIO - Hundreds of Belron U.S. glass replacement and repair technicians across the country will vie this fall to be the top two installers to represent the United States at the Best of Belron international vehicle glass installation competition May 2008 in the United Kingdom.

Belron is a vehicle glass repair and replacement company, with more than 18,500 employees working in 30 countries worldwide. Its Best of Belron competition demonstrates the company’s commitment to developing the best technicians in the industry. The competition covers all aspects related to customer service, safety and accuracy - the areas required to make a top technician.

Regional competitions run Oct. 6 through Dec. 8 in Mobile, Ala., Charlotte, N.C., Denver, Chicago, Phoenix, and Fairfield, N.J. Six contestants were chosen to participate in each region and are judged on installation compliance with Belron’s best practices standards, along with customer service, safety and accuracy factors. The top two finishers in each region will receive $500 cash prizes along with a trip to the national competition Jan. 26, 2008 in Columbus, Ohio.

“This competition was created in 2000 to emphasize Belron’s specific installation practices and to celebrate the work of our technicians, who are our direct link with the customer,” said Dan Wilson, president and chief executive officer of Belron US. “This competition showcases the tremendous skills of our technicians and this year helps further integrate our U.S. associates into Belron’s world-wide operations.”

First and second place finishers in the national competition will receive an all expenses paid trip to the United Kingdom to participate in the Best of Belron 2008.

The event is organized every other year. The 2006 Best of Belron competition, held in Nurburgring, Germany, featured contestants from 21 countries. The 650 attendees included insurance customers, sponsors and Belron associates. Thomas Bebel of Germany earned the title of Belron’s best technician.
