Average Retail Gasoline Prices Rise 1.4 Cents
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The U.S. average retail price for regular gasoline climbed 1.4 cents last week to reach $2.906 per gallon as of June 12.
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The U.S. average retail price for regular gasoline climbed 1.4 cents last week to reach $2.906 per gallon as of June 12. That's 77.6 cents higher than last year, reported the Energy Department's Energy Information Administration (EIA). Prices rose for the second week in a row across most of the country. The Gulf Coast saw the largest price hike of 4.1 cents to reach $2.805 per gallon. West Coast prices remained the highest in the nation but fell 3.9 cents to $3.162 per gallon. California prices fell 4.4 cents to $3.225 per gallon. The East Coast saw a price increase of 2.7 cents to reach $2.901 per gallon. Retail diesel fuel prices rose 2.8 cents to reach $2.918 per gallon as of June 12, which is 64.2 cents higher than last year. Prices varied throughout the country, with the Gulf Coast seeing the largest increase of 4.3 cents to $2.848 per gallon, the EIA reported. West Coast prices remained the highest in the country, falling 1.0 cent to $3.149 per gallon. California prices also fell 1.0 cent to $3.217 per gallon. East Coast prices gained 2.8 cents to reach $2.909 per gallon.
