Average Gasoline Prices Fall Nearly 6 Cents
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The U.S. average retail price for regular gasoline lost 5.8 cents to hit $2.284 per gallon, as of Feb. 13. That's 38.6 cents higher than the price during the same period last year, according to the Energy Department.

Prices dropped throughout the country, with the Midwest seeing the largest decrease of 9.1 cents to $2.189 per gallon, reported the Energy Department's Energy Information Administration (EIA). East Coast prices fell 5.4 cents to $2.322 per gallon. West Coast prices dropped 2.2 cents to $2.456 per gallon, with California prices falling 2.2 cents to $2.522 per gallon. Retail diesel fuel prices decreased by 2.3 cents to reach $2.476 per gallon, as of Feb. 13 --- 49 cents higher than last year. Diesel prices were down throughout the country. The EIA said the largest price decrease, 2.7 cents, occurred on the East Coast where the average price was $2.509 per gallon. West Coast prices fell 2.4 cents to average $2.621 per gallon, with California prices falling 3.0 cents to $2.709 per gallon.
