AutoTradeCenter (ATC), an Internet-based business-to-business automotive remarketing company, and Experian Automotive, a division of global information solutions company Experian, have launched a new merchandising application of Experian Automotive's AutoCheck vehicle history service. AutoTradeCenter customers, including auto remarketing companies, manufacturers, captive finance companies, lease and rental companies, and financial institutions, now have the option to provide a link to an AutoCheck Branded Title Report within their online auction-style listings. The application provides dealerships a no-cost link to a vehicle's branded title report, offering them the oppor-tunity to view the vehicle's history with the most up-to-date information prior to making a decision to stock a vehicle on their lot. The implementation allows the grounding dealer to enter the existing odometer reading, which is uploaded to Experian and then included on the AutoCheck Branded Title Report. The reading helps to identify any potential odometer roll-backs, and gives bidding dealers peace of mind. Experian Automotive's AutoCheck feature, FreeLinkSM, is powering the solution, providing free branded title reports to prospective purchasers. Currently, American Honda Finance Corporation is providing the AutoCheck Free Link feature as an added online remarketing tool for its Honda/Acura dealers through its private label VIPS site powered by ATC. As part of the VIPS program, Honda and Acura dealers, when shopping pre-owned inventory on the VIPS site, are offered a no-cost link to a vehicle's branded title report so they can identify potential defects such as odometer tampering, severe damage, title washing, or other title brands. Experian obtains this vehicle information from a variety of data sources, including State Department of Motor Vehicles, auto auctions, and dealers. Vehicle history reports have become a standard ingredient to wholesale purchase decisions," said Andy Shee-han, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Experian Automotive. "By embedding AutoCheck reports directly into online listings, AutoTradeCenter is delivering the information its customer network needs up-front to quickly and confidently close transactions."
