INGOLSTADT, GERMANY – Audi’s Q7 TDI is finally coming to life. A refined SUV finished with an absolutely massive engine, the Audi Q7 TDI has bragging rights as the most powerful diesel vehicle in its class, according to www.edmunds.com.
There are several high-end SUV touches, such as 20-inch rims, LED headlights, chrome accents, and carbon fiber ceramic brakes. And previewed in Audi’s R8 concept, the V-12 cranks out 500 horsepower, allowing the Q7 TDI to go from zero to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and top out at 155 mph.
The Q7 TDI’s engine is closely related to the 650-hp version in the R10 TDI that led Audi to victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It averages 19 mpg in the Q7.
The Q7 features a sporty adaptive air suspension system, aluminum wishbones, and axles and eight inches of ground clearance — and of course the Quattro drive system distributes power to the front and back in a 40:60 ratio.
