HERNDON, VA – The Audi R8 V-10 is the first car in the world that features all-LED headlamps, running lights, and turn indicators, according to the manufacturer.
LED headlights are four times more energy efficient compared to traditional halogen headlights, and they also feature a practically indefinite service life, reducing worry over blown lamps and additional maintenance costs.
The LEDs can be adjusted to be more or less bright electronically. It is hoped that future versions of LED headlights are able to react to variables including weather conditions, speed and distance between vehicles for added safety on the road, according to www.ubergizmo.com. Other parts of the Audi R8 V-10 that use LED lighting include footwells, light and rain sensors, and engine compartment lighting.
