Apple introduced its connected watch today after months of speculation about the device, and included a slide in the presentation suggesting the watch will allow BMW drivers to get updates on the status of their vehicle.
During the presentation, Apple's CEO Tim Cook showed a slide referencing BMW's "i" initiative of battery-electric vehicles with a battery charging icon, vehicle range information, and door lock update. It's unclear whether drivers would be able to remotely control their vehicle with the watch, which is expected to arrive in early 2015, reports The Verge. BMW hasn't announced details about the watch, but has said it will incorporate Apple's CarPlay system into future vehicles.
The Apple Watch will also integrate with Apple Pay, a new NFC-based (near-field communication) mobile payment platform also announced Sept. 9. The watch will retail for $349 and up.
