ALPHARETTA, GA – AmeriFleet Transportation, a total logistics solutions and transportation services provider to the fleet management and corporate fleet industry, has been named a 2006 Georgia Focus Recognition recipient. The Georgia Focus Recognition is the first of three levels of achievement in seeking the state’s highest honor for organizational performance excellence – the Georgia Oglethorpe Award. Once the final level is achieved, an organization is positioned to apply for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Created in 1996, the Oglethorpe award is named for Georgia’s founder, James Edward Oglethorpe, and follows an assessment based on the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award Criteria. The process for the award includes a self and third-party assessment of a business with applicants receiving a written feedback report detailing their respective strengths and improvement opportunities. In addition to the performance and self-assessment process, Georgia Oglethorpe provides educational services designed to improve organizational performance and strengthen Georgia’s economy. A letter from Georgia Gov. Sonny Purdue congratulating AmeriFleet on their achievement was presented to AmeriFleet executives during the Georgia Oglethorpe Annual Conference & Awards Banquet. The banquet was held on Sept. 28, 2006 at The Loudermilk Center in Atlanta.
