Amazon Drones One Step Closer to Takeoff
The FAA awarded Amazon a Part 135 air carrier certificate, which is also held by UPS and Wing, owned by Google’s parent Alphabet.

Amazon has received a certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration that brings it closer to launching drone deliveries in the U.S.
The FAA awarded Amazon a Part 135 air carrier certificate, which must be secured before a company begins drone deliveries.
Amazon said it would use the approval to begin to test deliveries, though no further details have been released. Through Amazon Prime Air, the company’s goal is to deliver lightweight packages to customers in low-population areas within 30 minutes.
Amazon made its first drone delivery in Britain in December 2016.
UPS and Wing, owned by Google’s parent Alphabet, have already received FAA approval to operate their own drone delivery services.
