Alt-Fuel Caravan Kicks Off Bioenergy Conference
MACON, Ga. --- A caravan of eight vehicles, all running on alternative fuel, drove from Atlanta to Tifton on Monday to promote efforts to clean up the air and become less dependent on foreign oil.
MACON, Ga. --- A caravan of eight vehicles, all running on alternative fuel, drove from Atlanta to Tifton on Monday to promote efforts to clean up the air and become less dependent on foreign oil. According to an Associated Press report, the event kicked off a three-day Southeastern Bioenergy Conference in Tifton. The meeting, sponsored by the University of Georgia, attracted hundreds of bioenergy experts around the world. Middle Georgia Clean Cities Coalition sponsored the caravan. Several vehicles in the procession ran on Georgia's own home-grown products. One vehicle was powered by biodiesel made from chicken fat. Others burned biodiesel made from soybean oil. Georgia Power Co. contributed a hybrid work truck that operates on biodiesel and electricity.
