Kia's Forte compact car will add a new base model for the 2017 model year that's powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder and updated 6-speed transmission, Kia has announced.
The new 2.0L Forte replaces the outgoing 1.8L inline-four engine in the base Forte. The 2.0L Atkinson inline-four makes 147 hp and 132 lb.-ft. of torque and is mated to a manual transmission. Kia is pairing the optional 6-speed automatic with a 2.0L GDI inline-four that makes 164 hp and 151 lb.-ft. of torque.
The Forte will arrive in three trims, including LX, EX and the new S sporty trim that will be priced between LX and EX.
The EX trim adds new standard features such as UVO3 telematics displayed on a 7-inch screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, push-button start with Smart Key, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone temperature control.
