PLYMOUTH, MI - Isuzu Commercial Truck of America has announced the availability of its 2008 gas-powered Isuzu N-Series low-cab-forward trucks. The new model features the Vortec 6.0L V-8 engine with 325 hp (up from 300 hp previously) and a Hydra-Matic 4-speed automatic transmission with lockup torque converter and overdrive.
With a choice of four wheelbases, the trucks can accommodate 10-20 ft. body lengths and body/payload combinations ranging from 6,829 to 9,411 lbs. GVW ratings remain at 12,000 and 14,500 lbs.
A new Hexacube cab offers increased headroom, shoulder room and legroom. Storage abounds in the driver seat back, dashboard, glove box, overhead storage shelves and rear storage organizer. Map pockets are built into the new, fully-trimmed door panels. The N-Series also features a new dashboard with a full complement of easy-to-see gauges and warning lamps. A 5-DIN opening can accommodate such optional equipment as radios, GPS systems and rear-view cameras.
Additional safety items found on the 2008 N-Series include: a new seat belt design; low-cut side windows; larger, 17-inch by 8-inch side mirrors with integrated convex sections; and available heated mirrors.
The cab also has greater rust and corrosion protection from the galvanized steel panels to the electro deposit paint primer and high quality enamel paint topcoat. The close-section construction and increased gussets improve the durability, as well as increasing the safety of the driver and passengers.
"The 2008 gas-powered Isuzu N-Series is the perfect solution for businesses that drive trucks 30,000 miles or less each year," said Joe Totaro, executive vice president and general manager, Isuzu Commercial Truck of America. "The initial cost is lower than a diesel truck, plus drivers can enjoy the convenience of gas and the maneuverability of a low cab forward."
