DEARBORN, MI — The Mazda5 is powered by an all-aluminum, 2.3L, four-cylinder, MZR series engine, producing 157 horsepower and 148 lb/ft of torque. Sequential valve timing (SVT) provides throttle response and plenty of torque, both under acceleration and at cruising speeds. Transmission options are a five-speed manual or four-speed Sport AT automatic with manual shift mode. The all-new Mazda5 is a three-row, six-passenger “multi-activity vehicle.” Adjustable seating and cargo arrangements and a well-proportioned, wedge-shaped body identify it as part of the Mazda family. Its large sliding doors and low floor allow for fluid accessibility, and a one-touch, walk-in mechanism offers easy access to the third-row seats. The Mazda5 is available in either sport or touring trim levels. The former includes an AM/FM/CD stereo, power windows and locks, as well as cruise control. The latter includes all of the amenities of the sport version and adds climate control, front fog lamps, rear spoiler, side skirts, an in-dash six-disc AM/FM/CD changer, and a power moon roof. All vehicles are fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, a fully independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, and side airbags and full three-row side air curtains.
