Chrysler will launch a vehicle segment that the corporation calls a "sports tourer." The 2004 Chrysler Pacifica will be built at the same assembly plant in Windsor, Ontario, where the company currently builds its Chrysler and Dodge minivans. While the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica will be built in the same plant as Chrysler and Dodge minivans, the vehicle will not be built on any of the company's short- or long-wheelbase minivan platforms. While the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica will be built on its own new, platform, it will utilize existing corporate resources, including the company's 3.5-liter V-6 en-gine in the Chrysler 300M. A concept version of the Chrysler Pacifica was revealed in January at the 2002 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. A pro-duction version will be revealed later this year. Production of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica will begin in early 2003.
