Fleet managers around the country are striving to meet corporate sustainability goals by identifying EV products that can offer a competitive total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to models powered by internal combustion engines.
The new 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV (electric utility vehicle) meets this zero-emission criteria in a vehicle that is six inches longer with a $33,995 MSRP that is actually lower than the prior model-year 2021 Bolt EV.
The 2022 Bolt EUV expands Chevrolet’s EV portfolio and will be sold alongside its sister vehicle, the redesigned 2022 Bolt EV. Both vehicles are part of General Motors’ plan to launch 30 new EVs globally by 2025, as part of its vison of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion.
The new Bolt EUV and redesigned Bolt EV share a common architecture but do not share any exterior sheet metal parts between the two vehicles. The Bolt EUV is the larger of the two and is approximately 6 inches longer.
Along with broadening the brand’s electric vehicle lineup, the Bolt EUV will also be the first Chevrolet vehicle to offer Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free driver assistance system for enabled roads.
The Bolt EUV and Bolt EV have an advanced 66 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack that is made up of 288 individual cells. In terms of battery recharging, there is an available DC Fast Charging system that enables the battery to be charged up to 100 miles of range in 30 minutes.
The new Dual Level Charge Cord is standard with Bolt EUV and is available for Bolt EV. It has a changeable plug that allows the customer to plug into a standard 120-volt three-prong outlet for Level 1 charging and a 240-volt outlet for Level 2 charging up to 7.2 kilowatts.
The Bolt EUV offers an impressive array of driver-assistance safety technologies, such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, IntelliBeam, and Front Pedestrian Braking.
The Bolt EUV, just like the Bolt EV, is fun to drive, with its electric motor providing almost-instant and strong acceleration. It has a nice ride quality with plenty of headroom, which is important for those who will employ it as a mobile office. In urban settings, it has firm and responsive brakes with precise steering.
The Bolt EUV has comfortable seating for front seat occupants and has a spacious interior with three inches more legroom for rear seat passengers. It also offers excellent visibility with a large front windshield, which provides a panoramic view of the road. In addition, there is easy ingress and egress to the vehicle, which is especially important for fleet drivers who make numerous stops during the course of a workday.
In fleet applications that requires carrying sales collateral or point of sale materials, as a hatchback, the Bolt EUV, along with the Bolt EV, offers cargo volume comparable to most crossovers. The second row seats can fold flat, which provides additional cargo-carrying capacity.
