The 2020 Nissan Titan is powered by a 5.6L Endurance V-8 gasoline engine that can generate 400 horsepower and 413 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is mated with an all-new nine-speed automatic transmission.
Built on a 139.8 inch wheelbase, the 2020 Titan is available in a choice of 4x2 or 4x4 drive configurations. The Titan provides fleets with robust off-road capabilities by taking advantage of its 413 lb.-ft. of torque. It as a minimum ground clearance of 9.8 inches. The Nissan Titan PRO-4X Crew Cab provides off-road capabilities for work crews to meet the most rugged fleet applications with features such as Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Brake Limited-Slip Differential and available electronic locking rear differential.
Driving Impressions
In a fleet application, the Titan will not only transport crews and equipment, but it will also function as a mobile office. As such, the Titan offers good ergonomics with its front and rear outboard Zero Gravity seats that maximize posture positioning for enhanced comfort during periods of extended sitting during the course of a workday. In addition, the PRO-4X features Bilstein monotube shocks to provide a more comfortable and controlled ride for remote workers while operating on non-paved roads.
In terms of drivability, the power variable-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is responsive to maneuvering through both congested urban and off-road work environments. The Titan offers excellent braking with 13.78-inch vented front disc brakes and 3.58-inch vented disc rear brake. The Titan also offers fleets good cruising range with a 26-gallon fuel capacity when operating in remote areas. From the perspective of driver comfort, the Titan cab is big, roomy, and quiet. PRO-4X interior features include front driver and passenger cloth Captain’s seats, eight-way power seat, and power lumbar adjustable support.
Payload and Towing Capabilities
The Titan PRO-4X is configured exclusively with a 5.5-foot bed with a spray-on bedliner, which has a maximum payload capacity of 1,680 pounds. The bed offers a wide range of available functionality features using Nissan’s Utili-Track System that features four heavy-duty aluminum alloy cleats that move and lock anywhere along the walls, as well as bed floor and header tracks that give the user numerous tie-down possibilities. Also, new all-LED lighting has been added to the pickup bed, using four light sources for full surround lighting for those utilizing the bed at night or in early morning.
Towing tops out at 9,210 pounds on 4x4 Titans. Available towing technologies include Trailer Light Check that allows for one-person hookup operations, an integrated trailer brake controller, Rear View Monitor with trailer guides, tow/haul mode with Downhill Speed Control, and Trailer Sway Control.
Safety Suite of ADAS Equipment
The 2020 Titan comes standard with the Nissan Safety Shield 360, which is a suite of six advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), which includes: Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, and Rear Automatic Braking. Other safety technologies include available Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Driver Alertness, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
The available Intelligent Around View Monitor provides a composite “bird’s eye” view of the surrounding area from front, rear and side cameras to help with parking and pulling in and out of tight spaces and off-road at low speeds. The system also includes Moving Object Detection, which helps alert the driver to detected moving objects around the vehicle via an on-screen notification and warning chime.
