General Motors LLC is recalling an estimated 177,276 2018 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles equipped with a 1.5L turbo engine because an error in the Engine Control Module (ECM) software may disable the fuel injectors.
This scenario prevents the engine from starting and may cause a stall, increasing the possibility of a collision.
To remedy the matter, GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the ECM software, at no cost to owners.
The automaker had not yet released a notification schedule. Owners can reach GM customer service at (800) 630-2438. GM’s reference number for this recall is N192221960.
