Ohio Yellow Cab Adds EVs to Taxi Fleet
Yellow Cab of Columbus in Ohio has purchased 10 Chevrolet Bolt EVs for its fleet of 200 taxi vehicles with the help of a fleet incentives provided by a private grant, according to the company.

The grants for the battery-electric vehicles came through Smart Columbus, which sourced $30,000 in incentives from the Paul G. Allen Philanthropies. The company is also developing innovative software to "help drivers take control of their income," according to a release.
Yellow Cab and Smart Columbus have been collaborating for te past two years to identify the best locations for EV charging stations in Ohio's capital city.
Yellow Cab, which provides between 2,000 to 3,000 trips per day, has found that the new EVs have been popular with drivers, some of whom have joined the company from Uber and Lyft, according to the company.
The company has embraced technology by launching its own mobile app and installed three cameras in each vehicle and tracking rides with a GPS-based telematics system. The company is also working on a mobile app that will allow drivers to unlock and use a Yellow Cab parked in neighborhoods throughout the Columbus. It should give drivers faster access to vehicles.
