Toyota is recalling 89,740 of 2008 to 2019 Land Cruiser and Lexus LX 570 large SUVs for a possible seat-belt defect that could cause three front air bags not to deploy, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Over time, the seat belt tension sensor wire harness may break and deactivate the front passenger air bag, knee air bag, and passenger seat-mounted air bag.

The remedy for the recall is still under development, and Toyota expects to send interim notification letters to owners on Feb. 11. A second notification will be sent when parts are available.

Owners may contact Toyota customer service at (888) 270-9371 or Lexus customer service at (800) 255-3987. The numbers for the recall are Lexus Interim J2L and Remedy JLL, as well as Toyota Interim J15 and Remedy J05.
