A. The single biggest mistake we see is to view parts of your fleet operation independent of each other. Anyone can focus exclusively on fuel costs, but if that comes at the expense of driver diversion, it’s not worth it. Focusing on the type of vehicles for your work without taking into account maintenance costs is short sighted. The information is out there, and it’s incumbent upon fleet professionals to work with companies that can not only aggregate the data, but analyze it and make recommendations to better operate your fleet. A perfect example of this is our ClearView product, which is software we developed in collaboration with our largest fleet customers that offers managers their data as a visualization charts, as opposed to spreadsheets. So, imagine, instead of telling fleets just what happened, which is what most data analytics does, ClearView can show you what might happen, based on trends and benchmarks. And we can also show you things that you would never see in a stack of spreadsheets, or which would take you hundreds of expensive staff hours to find, because ClearView charts are intuitive, easy to look at, and customizable. Maybe it’s exception reporting: Which drivers overspent our limits last week, last month, yesterday? Maybe it’s overall fleet MPG: Compare my spend month-to-month or year-to-year. If you have the data, we can show it to you in ways that are actionable, helping you make more informed decisions.
