WEX, Inc. has struck an agreement with the holding company of Shell Oil Products to issue Shell-branded fuel payment cards to commercial fleets starting later this summer, the Portland, Maine-based payment provider has announced.

The agreement between WEX and Equilon Enterprises (dba Shell Oil Products US) and Shell Canada Products will allow WEX to issue and operate commercial fleet fuel cards in the U.S. and Canada. The companies hope to launch the first cards by Aug. 1.

WEX will offer Shell's commercial fleet customers its full range of features, functionality and solutions. Earlier this year, Shell upgraded to the WEX Spec network specification that allows fleet managers to gain better control and visibility when managing fueling transactions.

Shell Fleet Solutions offers Shell Fleet Navigator, a universal fuel card for larger fleets; the Shell Fleet Plus Card; and the Shell Small Business Card.
