General Motors will cease production of its fleet-oriented bi-fuel compressed natural gas (CNG) Chevrolet Impala sedan as part of its 2017 model-year lineup, the company has confirmed to Automotive Fleet.
The vehicle had initially been included in GM's dealer order guide, but will be removed in a future update, said Robert Wheeler, communications manager of General Motors Fleet.
"Order guide changes are made in specific block points, therefore the order guide can be slightly off of real-time," Wheeler said. "If a change happens between block points, you have to wait for the next scheduled block point for the OG change. We will not offer a 2017 CNG Impala."
The vehicle, which was announced in 2013, had been delayed in its initial roll-out with the 2015 model year to ensure quality. As of the end of 2015, GM had delivered about 200 to fleet customers.
The bi-fuel CNG Impala offered a combined 500 miles of range, including a range of 150 miles on CNG and 350 miles on gasoline.
