Volvo has added a third shift and 1,300 jobs at its plant in the Torslanda neighborhood of Gothenburg, Sweden to meet demand for its redesigned 2015 XC90 luxury mid-size SUV, the automaker has announced.

As part of the plant expansion, which is planned for the first quarter of 2015, Volvo will increase the total number of employees at Torslanda by 40 percent. It follows the opening of a new body shop that increased capacity at the plant to 300,000 cars annually.

The plant now produces the S60, S80, V60, V70, XC70 and XC90 models.
