GM Releases Payload Ratings for Mid-Size Pickups
General Motors' new mid-size pickup trucks will offer slightly different payload ratings because the two vehicles have different curb weights, GM has announced.

General Motors' new mid-size pickup trucks will offer slightly different payload ratings because the two vehicles have different curb weights, GM has announced.
When paired with the 3.6-liter V-6 engine, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon will offer payload capacities of 1,590 pounds and 1,620 pounds respectively. The Canyon is slightly lighter because it offers aluminum alloy wheels as standard equipment, while the Colorado offers heavier steel wheels.
Additionally, the trucks will meet the Society of Automotive Engineers' J2807 towing standard.
GM, which has began shipping the trucks to dealers, is also touting recent EPA fuel economy ratings for the vehicles. The trucks offer 27 mpg highway when paired with the 2.5-liter engine and six-speed automatic transmission in rear-wheel drive. When outfitted with four-wheel drive, the trucks get 25 mpg highway.
