Three retired fleet managers and an active fleet manager were inducted into the Fleet Hall of Fame at the 2014 AFLA Conference, joining a group that now includes 65 members and will become increasingly exclusive in coming years.
Patsy Brownson, Stephen Levine, Brian McVeigh, and Bob Ward became the newest members of the Fleet Hall of Fame. Starting in 2015, three new members will be added each year.
Of the newest members, only Ward is still active. He began his career with GELCO in 1971 and has held roles with Avis, USFL, and Fleet Advisors. In his current role, he works on fleet-related consulting projects.
Brownson was active in fleet management from 1976 to 2011 with Remco, TV Rental, Cox Enterprises and pharmaceutical company UCB. When she left Cox in 2009, she managed 15,000 vehicles. Brownson was named Automotive Fleet's Professional Fleet Manager of the Year in 2001.
Levine was active in fleet from 1968 to 2009 in roles with Alexander's Rent a Car, Guardsman LeasePlan, Warner/Amex Cable TV, and Upjohn Pharmacia/Pfizer. He was awarded Professional Fleet Manager of the Year in 1999.
McVeigh spent his career on the supplier side in sales and marketing at General Motors' Fleet & Commercial Operations unit. McVeigh spent four years as GM's director of fleet in Canada and six as the general manager of Fleet & Commercial Sales in the U.S.
The Fleet Hall of Fame was established in 2008.
